mirrors doesn't work when reverse

I just noticed this yesterday when i start my car and i did not hear my both mirrors tilting downward when i tried to reverse . Anyone here has idea whats going on in my car ?

Do your mirrors work otherwise or is it just at this point you mention?

You need to have the mirror switch on the dash switched to either the left or right mirrors for them to dip in reverse

I think Lexus missed this in their design. The power to mirror motor is cut off with the switch in the middle ... but when you put the gear in "R" there is no juice.

Oh wow, I would've never figured that one out, lol.

there is a TSB for that exact problem, but yea try that first

The L-R switch, in addition to selecting the mirror you wish to adjust, also enables/disables the tilt feature when reversing. I seldom use it as my driveway is long and flat, but once in a while, when parallel parking it is useful to see my distance from the curb. This feature gives me the option of tilting the mirrors or not. See owner's manual.

Some occasions you do not want the tilt when reversing, so I understand the option they put in to turn it on or off.

Did that fix the problem? if not there is a tsb to replace the actuators.

you guys rockin ....... it worked by selecting the L-R switch , never figured this out. lexus still have some hidden tricks in their cars ,thanks everyone!

I am glad to find out it was just a switch position problem, when I read the title of the thread my first thought was it was a very serious problem. I thought you may have had vampires following you that you couldn't see in your rear view mirror.

The MANUAL helps...really. Need to read it twice at a minimum. You might find a gem and then can share with us.

hey question about tilting side mirrors when reversing. the passenger side mirror tilts just at the right angle but the driver side tilts too much. is this normal?

You probably have the Driver's side mirror adjusted way too low, hence when it tilts...it tilts more.
