I just did this to my 05 RX 330.
I agree, it is time to ping this thread. My neighbor suffered a punctured refrigerant line. His is a 08 RX 350. It is going to cost him an arm and a leg to get his A/C fixed.

Found some gutter mesh… but it was plastic. Installed it, and it might be better than nothing, but will likely order some aluminium or other metal and redo it.
Would not recommend with plastic.
