I picked up an '07 Acura MDX not too long ago and I can unequivocally say the black paint holds up MUCH better than the black paint on my '05 RX 330. Not sure what the deal is there ...

This one is a definite problem especially on the rear seat belts. The problem is the retract on the slower side and the belt tends to twist stopping the retraction until you reach over and untwist the seat belt. This is especially true on the rear where both my rear door panels have torn vinyl in the door jam facing area because the seat belts failed to retract all the way and a passenger closed the door with the metal seat belt clip in between the door and door jam.

6)how often does your abs/vsc light come on, does the speddo work when the light comes on?
I had this happen early on on my RX as well. It is totally random. I made an appointment with Lexus to have it checked out but the problem went away and by that time Lexus could not retrieve any codes. The SA did say he has seen that before but never told me what it was. Problem never happened to me again fortunately.

That may have something to do with the lack of clearcoat protection. At least on my 99 RX, the black paint never had it.

The later years Lexus paint IMHO is really soft. At least from my 2004. I had paint chips and bird drop etchings in the clear coats within days of driving it off the show room floor. My older Lexus cars like my 94 ES300 and 99 LS400 has much harder paint and very few rock chips. I can also tell how soft the clear paint is when I use scratch X product to remove minor scratches. On the 2004, just lightly applying the product takes the scratches off fairly easy. On the older cars it takes a lot more elbow grease.

1)as far as condensation, sorry poor sealing, there is no modified parts, just have them warranty them.
2)roof drip moldings, new modified ones just came out. ask for the new ones with adhesive tape, not old stock.
3) rear wiper, you need to you lots of fluid to clean off dirt. was there ever any damage to the rear tailgate or window?
4) seat belt- does it retract slowly, or not at all.
5) tire pressure light- any wheel bearing noise? mismatched tires(manufactured in different countries, same brand and model).
6)how often does your abs/vsc light come on, does the speddo work when the light comes on?
7)the mirrors will only tilt down a preset amount, no special setting required. try tilting them down, then put the car in reverse(you will hear the mirror bottom out)
1) Thx, I've already had 2 of the four lights replaced
2) thx for informing me of the new moldings. I will defenitely have them replaced with the new types.
3) there is no damage to the window
4) sometimes the belt stops retracting half way or so and just hangs. then you wind up hitting it with the door when you close it if you don't pay close attention
5) Wheels are all factory, no bearing noise, no indication of any problems
6) The abs/vsc/tpm lights come on totally at random, usually a few times a week, dry weather and wet weather. I haven't noticed the speedo not working so I'm assuming that it is. The truck is at the dealer right now. I brought it in Saturday morning. So far they are telling me that a intermittent shortage in a break switch is causing the lights. and as far as my handling issues, they are telling me that everything (allignment, brakes, etc) are all within specs. I'm suppose to pick up the truck tomorrow (mon).

I did score an 07 rx350 loaner though (o:

The problem with the seat belt straps not retracting is not new. All of the RXs I have owned have done this. I was instructed to be sure my seat belt strap was not twisted when I existed the car. Some times this is the problem and sometimes it is not. If any one has had it resolved please let me know so I readdress it. Thank you.

I had the same issues with my mirrors regarding the reverse tilt. The passenger side works fine but the drivers side tilts very little. I thought when the car was new that the drivers side tilted the same amount as the passenger side. The service manager and I tested a couple of loaner vehicles and they all tilted the same amount as mine so I guess this is normal . It seems to negate the effect of the tilt at least as for the drivers side.

I've tried manually setting the reverse tilt but this has had no effect.

ohhh you'll like my post!! i had the error light problem (See below)

nymav, I too have had quite a number of problems with my RX330 which i purchased in Jan 2005 as well!! Interesting ... did you get it from Prestige in NJ?

here's going through your issues and adding my own:
1) had the condensation problem as well. they took a while to replace it since the part wasn't available but it was done (and they gave me a rental)
2) have the roof molding problem as well, didn't know there was a fix so I'll be sure they replace it next time I'm in
3) rear wiper => the TSP fixed it so be sure to have that applied to the car as well.

4) Transmission replaced after 23k miles. Had ticking noises come on after you let go of the pedal at low speeds (below 45 mph). They never saw this and had to replace the entire transmission since Mother Toyota (japan HQ) asked for the transmission in its entirety since they hadn't seen the problem before.

5) Now for the ABS/VSC/BRAKE/TIRE PRESSURE light ... I just had this problem. Have them replace the "Brake Switch" It sits behind the brake pedal. After I had this replaced it was fine.

I hope that helps!!
