Default Q on INFO, MPG since last Fillup

Does the RX really know the last time I filled it up to show mpg since last fillup on the Info screen?? Or, does it just calculate since the last time I started the car - like the bottom part of the screen?

When you fill the tank it resets itself automatically. I am surprised there is no way to track longer timeframes, like between oil changes. Since driving habits can differ greatly between fill-ups, it would be more helpful to be able to control the timeframes used to measure MPG.

I wonder though....does the counter reset when your tank is filled up, or when the gas door/cap is opened??

I suspect it resets when the gas door is opened. I'd check it, but I'm in the middle of checking the averaging of fuel consumption by the computer and don't want to lose the data I've accumulated. If you open and close the door, you should see the trip computer reset to a full tank when you restart the engine. Now, what that does if you only put in, say, five gallons, I don't know.

I'm also averaging fuel consumption. I'm using a manual method via Excel and comparing it to the MPG listed by the computer. They are slightly off.

Anyway, I'll check this on the next fillup. A co-worker says his Prius doesn't reset until the gas tank is filled up as opposed to as soon as it's opened.

The Trip Info screen just gives you the average since you last start up the car, it doesn't have the info since the last filled up.
I use Trip setting to calculate the average, everytime I fill up the car, I reset the Trip (button).

The distance traveled and average MPH is every time you start your RX. However, the calculation for MPG is for the entire length until you fill up.

I had not thought of that. I hope it's not when the gas door is open. I always open mine to clean when I wash my car.
