Default Transmission Fluid Leak and the Tale of Fantastic Lexus Service

Few weeks ago, my aunt who lives next door to me brought her RX330 home from Meade Lexus for servicing. Everything was fine as usual until I saw some red liquid on the garage floor when she was out getting groceries. My uncle who owns a Mercedes S500 said it was my little cousin's cranberry juice, and I reluctantly said yeah it could be. However, few days ago my aunt asked me when we left for lunch, why is the red puddle there and is getting bigger??? I said omg, it must be some transmission fluid or coolent fluid. I rushed back to the garage and smelled the red liquid and it was indeed transmission fluid. I called Meade Lexus, and they were shock to hear that someone at the dealer did not service the car properly and they sent a technichian and another Rx330 in exactly 25 minutes. The technichian cleaned the garage floor and constantly apologized, though he wasn't the one who did the servicing. He was very friendly and quick in looking under my aunt's Rx330 to discover some loose screws for the gasket and th the transmission fluid. HE left us the loaner and took the car back to the dealer asap. We are very happy for Lexus and their philosophy of perfection and customer first. I am glad I own a Lexus too and I'm glad that my next car on order was not a BMW but the Lexus GS350.

Possibly didn't torque the drain plugs enough. I've had my pan plug drip a little after the first changes. I upped the torque five foot pounds and it stopped. Fluid was around the plug prior to retorque.

Great response by the dealer! That's what they call "the Lexus Experience". Wish more dealers would be so concerned with their customers!

Default Tranny Fluid Flush

Taking the RX in next week & having the tranny flushed. They say the get ALL the fluid changed this way as the run 14 Qts. trough the whole system.

I'm having AMSOIL SYNTHETIC fluid put back in.

I'm sure you understand, the flush fluid needs to be the exact fluid as the final fill.

This means the machine needs to use the Amsoil synthetic for the flush. The idea is to replace all the existing fluid with a new different type and brand. So you'll need four gallons of Armsoil..?

A "drain and fill" of a gallon every fifteen thousand after your flush should suffice.

Good luck with the new fluid

Default Flush

They told me they need 14 QTs. to flush the system. Thats what I was told at 3 places I called.

They want 4 - 5 Qts. more then total total fill for the tranny. That way they get all the old fluid out plus some.
