Default Reset MaInt Required light on 2004 RX330

Hello All,

I changed the oil, and want to reset the light. I have searched this forum, and tried holding the ODO button and turning the key. I have tried holding the button without the key in the ignition, with the key in the ignition, and then turning it to the run position, but not starting the car. Nothing works. Is there another method to reset the light on the later Lexus and/or the 330 in particular??

Thanks
Michael

How long are you holding down the button?

Yeah... the key is to hold down the button long enough.

From the 2004 Owners' Manual:

1. Turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position with the odometer reading shown. (For details, see “Odometer and trip meter” on page 73.)

2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position while holding down the “ODO/TRIP” button.
Hold down the button for at least 5 seconds. The odometer indicates “000000” and the light goes off.

If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing.

Thanks for the help. Once I changed it to the ODO from the trip meter, it worked flawlessfly. None of the instructions said anything about changing it to the ODO. That was the key.

Thanks again for the help.

You're right... in all the posts I can think of, there's no mention of going to the ODO first as being an important step. Shows you how many of us really use the trip meters and leave them on rather than the odometer! Even I blew past that in step 1 and went right to step 2!

There's a lot of gemstones on the Manual...read twice, 3 times over.
