Castrol Synthetic Blend 5W-30
My lexus dealership put in the Castrol Synthetic Blend on my car (5000k oil change free), which is half synthetic and half conventional regular motor oil. My next oil change is coming up soon.
My question is......
Would I be ok using the regular conventional motor oil from now on.
Thanks.............

I hope this thread does not get into the synthetic vs. regular oil debate.
However, when I got my car...I went straight to synthetic and never looked back. I think you will find that the experience of most RX owners.

I think Toyota's recommendation is BS. You can always switch back and forth between dino and syn. Blend itself it a mix.
Like Lexmex, I have been using Mobil 1 syn oil after my 3rd oil change and never change back.

synth blend
I have been using synthetic blend in my trucks at work for a long time, it has cut oil consumption in hi mileage vehicles and i think it gives superior wear protection. In my 400h with an engine that starts and stops hundreds of times a day i would want some synthetic in there. I am a beiever in frequent oil and filter changes so i dont see the need for full synthetic, personally i preferr to get the old oil out, and new filters every 3000 mi or so. Its just my opinion, but i feel that many people would throw in the synthetic and go for a long time without checking any thing under the hood. I view the trucks as work tools that have to be reliable and work every time i need them.

I do not notice any difference using the Synthetic Blend......i.e. horsepower, etc...
Have you noticed any differences using fully synthetic?? I hate to pay $4 bucks a quart of fully synthetic if there isn't any difference.

As of last weekend, I am now trying 1 0W-40 bottle and 3.6 5W-50 and that seems to give me better performance and gas mileage.
