Default Factory towing wire harness with Curt Hitch

Decided to go with the Curt hitch on my 2007 RX350 mainly due to price, but already bought the factory wire harness. My issue is where should I mount the plug too, def don't want to drill into the hitch. Just wondering if anyone here has this type of setup and how you ending up mounting it.

You could use large diameter screw-clamps around the hitch body to hold a mounting tab. It would likely be a self-made tab. Wouldn't look great but it should work.

The factory hitch has the mounting tab welded to the hitch. The welding could be done but then refinishing and the cost of having it professionally welded would likely add up to a OEM hitch price.

If I were you I would leave the wiring inside the hatch. That way it is always dry. Just run the trailer side into the hatch and shut it.

Thanks for the replys, still not sure what to really do, can't run it in the hatch unless I re-route it, as it is coming out under the car floor through a grommet. Should have just saved money and tapped the wires and kept it in the hatch like you said. That is how they did it on etrailer.com instructional video. Was hoping for a clean look with the factory harness, oh well will work on it this wekend.

Just don't run it through the grommet. Pull it in to the rear cargo hatch and just plug in there. Or if you are already outside, zip tie it up higher than the bumper so it is out of sight. I tow 20 times a year and would rather get on my knees to plug in than have to see an ugly plug every day.

Yep, thats probably what I'm gonna do since its already outside, just zip tie it up and out of the way.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions/ideas
