Key Fob Distance
I was wondering if anyone else thinks you have to be practically on top of the car for the key fob to work. I have to get really close to the car before it will work, about 10-15 feet. It also seems to react slowly. I double click to unlock all the doors and it only registers it as a sigle click. I have to click slow or it will not work. I owned a Dodge before the RX400h and I could be at the other end of the parking lot and unlock the car or make the horn beep. It also reacted quicker to double and single clicks. The car is only a month old and it has done this from day one.
Ours works easily from 100-150', way away from the car. Lext is right, this was on TV lately that the body acts as a transmitter if the key is placed near the chin area. I tried this and got a few more feet but not much. I can usually go outside a restaurant and lock the car from 100+ feet.
Also try replacing the battery which I have not done, when our cars were new I could lock them from 200'+, assuming this is a power issue.

The range is much longer on the RX300 that it is with the 330 and presumably the 400. There was a design change to the antenna... I don't recall if the range was cut intentionally or if the antenna is somehow limited by the location of the receiver. I agree that you can get about 50 feet on the 330 by holding the key up higher. (I've never tried the chin idea.)
The double-click speed of the door lock takes some getting used to. I still mess up from time to time and need to slow down. I think the secret is to click the button a second time immediately after the car beeps in response to the first click. You have to wait for the beep, but then hit the button right away again.
