This is absolutely true. I live on the edge of a metro area and I can drive about 20 miles west of my location and get fuel without the EPA mandated clean air additives in it. When I do, I get 1-2 mpg more from that fuel.

What are you other owners getting in miles per gallon -- city, highway, etc?
My 3yo 2002 RX300 AWD has a life average of 21.1 mpg according to the computer. This includes about a year of stop-n-go driving in NYC. I was getting about 17 mpg average in NYC and it was consistent from new to 1 year old.

Here's in Colorado, I get about 18 mpg in the city and 24.5 mpg on the highway. Drive mostly highway or rural road with little traffic.

Oxygenated fuel does reduce fuel economy somewhat, though I think the cold temperature also plays a factor.

My 05 2wd gets mostly 17 mpg, and sometimes 16 mpg in town. On a recent trip, I got 25mpg, with only 80 mph cruising. The interstate(I40) on that trip is mostly flat (Raleigh to Wilmington, NC). I had around 1500 miles on it then.
I am very pleased. Old 2001 RX AWD only got at best 20 mpg at 80 mph cruise on same route.
