Default Five months and four thousands miles

.Just a few thoughts about my RX 330 after five months and four thousands miles

This is my third Lexus. The first was a 1999 RX 300, next came a short lived 2003 GX 470 and now a 2004 RX 330.

This RX has a bunch of options that include HID lights, Navigation System, remote hatch, 18 inch wheels and other minor (expensive) options. The car has a very nice interior with good seat warmers. The automatic HVAC system leaves a bit to be desired on 40 to 50 degree days. It tries to mix AC from the dash and heat from the floor. The result does not work as well as my previous Lexus products. The seats are a bit longer than my other RX but sit about the same. The standard radio is fair at best. The Navigation system is the car’s best feature and it has been of value more than once.

Economy is 20 mpg in city driving and 25 to 26 at highway speeds. The engine is smooth and slightly underpowered. The transmission downshifts are hard and up shifts are smooth. There is way too much wind noise at 60 mph or faster. The car has several rattles at speeds and the dealer has promised to correct them next month. Wet weather is not the car’s best driving situation. It handles poorly on wet roads that may well be the fault of the 18 tires.

Is this car worth the $42,000 sticker price? Not to me. I do believe this is my last Lexus.

thats sad to hear. But SUVs do perform worse than cars at the same price though. I drove a BMW 330ci last night and was surprised how good it handles and how much faster it was compared to my ute. But then im comparing apples and oranges.

I'm @ almost 4 months & 4K+ miles and I totally love this SUV. It's smooth, enough power for me and looks great in & out. This is DEFINITELY NOT my last Lexus. My previous cars haven been a '01 IS300, '97 Prelude SH and '94 Accord EX. I hope to get into a GS someday, but after having my RX330, I don't think I can settle for a lower-riding vehicle!?!

Thumbs up

Sorry to hear of your disappointment with the RX 330. We are the antithesis. We have 11,000 miles on our RX 330. It is our first Lexis and first SUV and we have totally fallen in love with everything about it. To us it is the ideal car for a pair of 60+-year-olds who desire "traveling in style, comfort, and safety!"
