So, I parked right up against a wall and marked the headlight positions with tape on the wall. Then I backed up 25 feet and the headlights were a foot or more below the horizontal line.
I found the two adjusters. I was expecting to find a beveled gear for vertical and horizontal, which I did. I was surprised to find that for Vertical there is a phillips head screw which turns the bevel adjuster. That made it easy to dial the headlights up to the horizontal line on the wall.
Question 1: Did I make them too high?
The headlights look OK, I think the driver side could move a little to the left maybe. According to the manual, you're supposed to also adjust the horizontal screw by the same number of turns. This one (shown in the photo) does not have a phillips head screw. As far as I could see, it looks like I'm just supposed to turn the screw by inserting a Phillips head screw driver against the beveled gear. I tried this, but I could barely budge the adjuster a few teeth in either direction.
Question 2: Am I doing something wrong with that adjuster screw?
So I'll answer this myself. The manual is wrong. There is one metal screw and it, very cleverly, turns both of the plastic beveled screws, adjusting vertical and horizontal at the same time. You don't turn the plastic screws directly.
Useful to know. Just had this job come back on a rapsheet after an inspection!
Mine had the airbag suspension with levellers attached to the suspension but since coilovers were fitted I'm hoping this might help as an easy fix.
