2001 Lexus RX300 turn over won't start
hello , i have recenty bought 2001 lexus RX300 . it has roughly 200k miles . i drove it back home, driving 70 mph on freeway. i didnt have an issue with it other than had to put in new altennator before i drove it home. the next day we got snow and freezing rain with temps in the teens. went to start it and it wouldnt start, cranked but wouldnt start. towed it to the shop and charged battery and went and had a key made cause the 1 i was given was broke at the fob. got the key and the damn thing started right up , until i had to turn it off cause the waterpump had went out .changed waterpump ,made sure the timing belt was still in time and put car back together. go to start it again and it will not start . i have changed crankshaft sensor , camshaft sensor. i have checked spark and fuel , i am getting that. if anyone could help with this i would greatly appreciate it , because i am stumped

Once you get past that, you need to confirm the timing is good. Being 4 stroke the cams and crank align twice. If the crank or the cams were turned when decoupled, you can put it back in the exhaust stroke. Use a compressor to confirm the TDC is compression position. Do not throw parts specially sub standard. Either you are wasting good money or diluting the asset. Salim |
"had a key made cause the 1 i was given was broke at the fob" Can you clarify this? Do you now have a complete key + fob with the security chip in it? Is the security light off when you are turning the key?

I reread the post and it states he is getting the spark, so immobilizer is not a problem. It is timing or fuel. Since the belt was taken off for water pump, I am putting my money on timing.
