i dont see any threads regarding this. I have elements on my drivers side back window for defogging. My rear and mirror defogging work. Is this connected together? Doesnt seem to clear side window just rear and mirrors. How do i check this? This defogger driver side doesnt work
As far as I know, what you showed in the photo is not a defogger. That is probably some kind of radio reception antenna, as described on pg. 157 of the manual: "Putting a window tint (especially, conductive or metallic type) on the left quarter window may affect the reception of radio or mobile telephone. For the installation of the window tint, consult with your Lexus dealer."
Ok i see that in page 157. Why would i have a wire antenna on the glass and a retractable antenna. All i know about this vehicle is that it was bought in alexandria, va near DC and owner moved to florida retitled down there then it came back to VA. I show several lexus repair records but nothing expnaining this.
so.....whats the consensus? Is the wire antenna on rear quarter drivers side window the AM antenna or was it a fsiled attempt for lexus to cell car phones and that was supposed to be the antenna for that? Im thinking the latter. Because reception sucks until power antenna is fully up.
I'll credit you that it would have been a useful thing to have, if the rear side windows were equipped with defoggers. Especially with Chicago winters.
Unfortunately, not the case.
I believe it is called diversified antenna. The system automatically selects which antenna has better reception at the moment. My 2002 QX4 has the same diversified antenna mentioned in the manual. If it is defogger, it should have more lines across the entire window not just two lines.
