No reverse

I have a 2000 RX 300 FWD drives fine forward but when backing up sometimes the transmission acts like it is shifting into neutral and the back into gear. Any ldeas?

When my 1999 RX demonstrated that behavior at about 115K miles it was fairly soon thereafter followed by total transmission failure.

Put some sea foam hydra trans tune in the transmission, after the car is at operating temperature and see if it frees the sticking solenoid.
