Door lock actuator and key question
I replaced the door lock actuator and now I can't lock and unlock the door using the key. How is the key lock and the door lock actuator connected? Does any one have any kind of picture of the connection? I would guess that I did not connect something in there.

The actuator has 2 solid steel rods coming off of it. The larger/longer steel rod attaches to your outside door handle. The smaller/shorter steel rod attached to the key lock cylinder. More than likely that rod was not installed or not properly clipped in place during installation.

The rods have a nylon hinge with a locking mechanism. The inside door handle has two cables (one for lock and one for release). Apart for that there is an electronic interface of the lock with the electrical system [I think you were trying to fix that].
The cables should not have a bend to them (only sweeping turns).
The rods must be free to move once locked in position with the nylon hinges. You can not get the wrong rod in the wrong hinge without fghting it. Once both rods locked you should be able to gauge a free movement. [to confirm no forced cross over].
The key is somewhat of a challenge as it operates the lock directly AND electronically. There are contacts at the key post to lock all other doors and operate the windows. You can disconnect the battery to eliminate the electrical circuit and see if the lock works with the mechanical linkage.
Reminder: Always disconnect the battery working on your vehicle.
AND: drive around with the door panel removed for a few days after working on the door locks.

I think the rod for the key lock is my issue. The picture really helps, thank you VR4. I always disconnect the battery when I work on this kind of stuff. Salim your input is always welcome. All other functions work on this door. The remote. inside and outside handles and the lock/ unlock button. Only the key doesn't work.

You may have the problem in the actuator. Take the assembly out and confirm that the key-rod assembly operates without much force.

As I recall in one of your earlier post you were having problems with the remote. You said that the problem turns out to be the key lock binding. You also stated that you were able to force the key to turn and the actuator and remote started to work. When you force the key to turn you could have damaged the key lock or the latch mechanism itself.

So I finally found the problem. Ever since I replaced the door lock actuator the key lock didn't work. Yesterday I took everything apart related to the lock. I finally found that the wire that goes from the lock actuator to the interior door handle had a kink in it so it would not slide. I was able to straighten it with out breaking it. and now everything works. I only took 4 hours to get it all going but at least it works now. The thing that surprised me was that now I can raise and lower the windows with the key and the remote, I never knew that before.
