RX300 swap Nakamichi and Standard Pioneer Audio Systems
Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have owned my 2000 RX300 since 2001, and recently bought a 2001 RX300 to add to my driveway. I know this is an old car, so this might be an obsolete subject, but here goes. The 2000 has the Nakamichi, the 2001 does not. I prefer the Nakamichi (the Pioneer is too biased towards bass, and it's boomy and muddy), so I've looked into swapping them...boy, is it hard. The speakers are easy, but the wiring is different to the amp, CD changer, and subwoofer, plus there's a co-axial cable from the CD changer to the Nakamichi amp. Probably I can make a cable for that, but the rest of the wiring concerns me. I was going to unplug the whole body harnesses and swap them, but found the connector wiring under the right side of the dash are different in the two years. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.
