Rear Tailgate Struts Failed

Recently, I noticed that my rear struts for the tailgate started to fail- symptoms like, won't lift up, won't stay up etc.. Is there anything to correct it temporarily while I shell out money to buy new struts for the tailgate? My head has been hitting the tailgate so much, I've had killer headaches... Lol

Broomstick

I would vote for repair just by seeing how long these cars last and its been well cared for all along.

Obviously the simplest is a broomstick or have some one hold the hatch up.

This is one of the few items I would strongly recommend to buy aftermarket. OEM are way to expensive [although they last a long time] and you can go through 3 or more sets of after market for the same lifespan. They have zero impact on drivability.

If you use the hatch often, then why go through the aggravation. Price them out and they are not very expensive. Buy the pair.

I have sourced my lifts for my GTI and RX300 from the company below. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.
