Default I took the rear courtesy light bulb out.

All the courtesy lights, the centre VDU, and the remote locking stopped working.

Please will you kindly tell me how to get them working.
All fuses in each box are good.

When you took the bulb out, did you short out anything and was the battery connected?

And
How are you checking the fuse(s)? Visual (?) voltmeter(?) or test light?

Salaam alaikum Salim
Thank you for your rapid response.

The light was on.
The battery was connected.

As far as I know, I did not short the fuse.

I checked the fuses with an ohm meter.
The ohm meter was set to squeal if the fuse was good.

I also checked the dome fuse, and the ECU-1G fuse by eye.

You can try swapping the 'dome' fuse with another of same rating. You may even have a spare in the fuse box. The worst outcome is the new (or the swapped) fuse may blow if there is permanent short.

Checking by eye can at times give you wrong indication.

Thank you Sailimshah

I tried another fuse, which I know forms a continuous link.

No dome lights :-(

You have tried the simple things.

Next would be to get the circuit diagram and start tracing voltage.

There maybe a usable link in the wire [will be shown in the circuit diagram].

I waded all through the fuse pages (body electrics) in the maintenance manual Salim.
I could not find a fuse that was not in one of the two fuse boxes.

I can't work out why removing / shorting out a bulb on an ignition on or off circuit
will stop an ignition only circuit working .

Have you any idea how that can happen please

As far as the dome light goes have you tried a new bulb and have you tried the switch. you could put your voltage tester on the bulb connections and then try the switch to see of you have voltage. I can't imagine the dome light and the other items on the same circuit but I would start with what you did in the first place to see if it is the cause.

Dome circuit is live all the time, you have to disconnect the battery while working on it and accidents can happen.

I would still insist that get hold of the circuit diagram and that will tell you where ALL non working components combine. You have to the trace upstream from that point. Generally Lexus does not use switching on the ground side and that makes troubleshooting lot easier.

If only the dome was out, then I would suggest unscrew the fixture and check if the connector is still attached. All connectors in Lexus have a locking mechanism, so it is very unlikely that the connector is loose, but some one may have been in there before you.

I find the circuit diagrams maintenance manual exceed my skills.
Especially since I need to speak French, Soanish and German to get max benefit

Would you happen to know which pages I need in the manual please.

I am willing to help, but you need to
a) list all electricals that are no longer working.
b) Point me to a place where I can look up the wiring diagram. [ I don't have electrical wiring service manual]
