Default Power steering suction hose

I noticed the power steering suction hose has fairly deep cracks, but it is not leaking yet. I looked up the OEM part and it is $125 discounted. Can I just use transmission hose to replace it?

The suction hose connects the reservoir to the pump, but it isn't under high pressure. The transmission hose I have is rated 300 psi.

I would visit a 'pull a part' yard. Pressure rating is not an issue but the pipes are usually stiff and the plastic tip of the reservoir will be strained.

The last time I replaced hoses and pump was for a 2003 Sienna 3.0L. The pump is buried deep into the engine and I believe that all the hose were formed hose. As Salim has suggested try a pick n pull yard and look for both Lexus and Sienna or any other Toyota of that year. The hardest part of replacing the pump was removing the high pressure from the pump. It uses a banjo bolt, but Toyota decided to stick a sensor on top of the banjo bolt and you had to remove the electrical connector to the sensor blind.

Gong by memory there are two hoses to the reservoir. One is the feed and the other is the return. The return has a pressure reducer in the hose, so make sure that you do not use pipe without the pressure reducer in the return.

I have already replaced the short piece of rubber return hose with transmission hose as it was weeping. Is the pressure reducer in that section? That short hose piece is not available for purchase from what I saw on the Lexus part diagram, as it is part of a longer metal tube that is sold as one unit. I will check later how the flow is into the reservoir and if it seems to high.

I will also take a photo of the hoses and post.
