Default Spark Plugs - to change or not to change?

Hello all. Thought I'd seek input from fellow RX300 owners.

I have 2000 RX300 AWD with 66,000 miles. I don't know if the plugs have been changed - I have a stack of maintenance records but none indicating plug change. Part of me thinks, yea, 18 years, probably a good idea. The other part says, well, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Runs great, no codes, no misfires, etc. Your thoughts on changin the plugs?

Thanks
Douglas

The service schedule says to replace at 120,000 miles or 8 years. But if you are running fine with no MPG or other issues I might leave them be. Note that the back three plugs are difficult to change, but doable following the DIY posted in the DIY folder.

If you aren't burning oil you are probably ok. One option is to pull the front three and see if they look normal. You could replace those anyway since they are out, but if they look alright, leave the back three alone. Only replace with Denso Iridium SK20R11 plugs.

Removed plug from cylinder 6, here's what it looks like. Measured gap at .040.

The Denso iridium plugs in this car will typically last 200k miles. The only reason to pull them at 120k would be to prevent thread galling which can eventually happen at higher mileage. I read (think I still have it somewhere) a white paper Denso presented to the SAE. Their objective was an iridium plug that lasted 200k miles in a passenger vehicle BEFORE performance deteriorated. They had plenty of data proving they had accomplished their objective.
