Default Loudsy noise after starting up, difficult to accellerate in 4,5 minutes.

Hi all,

My car is 2001 rx 300, 181,000 miles. When it is cold, after starting up, it is quite noisy and then difficult to accelerate when the car is still cold. After a few minutes when the car is warmer, everything is normal. After reading some threads on this forum, i am suspecting that there is a leak or maybe some leaks in the exhaust system. This morning after starting the car, i looked under it and saw some water drops from this place, right in the middle of the attached picture.

When i put my hand around it, i can fill the air coming out.

So is that the cause of my problem? How should i fix this? By the way, currently the Abs and vsc lights are on, but i think that is not related to the problem on loud noise after starting, right?

Noise can be associated with the leak.

what about Check engine light? Does it come up as you move ignition key from ACC to RUN?

No engine light at all, salim. Last year my car was hit right into the front passenger wheel. I had to replace steering knuckle, drive shaft, strut, break line, steering bar,... on that side. I think the ABS and VSC lights are from the dirty speed sensor and drive shaft.

Hmm .. what I listed was part of the self test and Check Engine Light should come on. If it does not light up during self test, you can be having an issue and not know about it.

Just confirming that you are familiar with the the override being locked out till the engine and transmission warm up.

Oh i know what you meant. Yes the engine light came up when i turn from ACC to RUN, and then the light is off. Yes, I am familiar with the the override being locked out till the engine and transmission warm up.

Good. Just get the flange reassembled after replacing the recommended parts and that wlll get rid of the noise.

Not sure what is the reason for slowdown, other than overdrive being locked out.

Salim,

can you tell more details on the replacement part? What is its name so that i can do some research? Or is there a thread in this forum talking about it.

thank you very much for the discussion.

I dont have the service manual with me, but you can call Lexus parts and ask about packing that goes between the metal pieces.

I think you are looking for gasket #

17451-0A010

but you might need the bolts and springs too depending on how willing they are to come apart. I'm sure there are aftermarket parts for cheap that will work too. You might want to just swing by a discount muffler place and see what they want to pop in a new gasket. Might only be $20 and you won't have to get dirty.
