Default Anyone paint the bezels around the display?

Almost 20 years of button-pushing has taken its toll on the black trim in the center section (name?) where the screen and buttons are. Looks like dirt but of course as we know it is actually worn-out paint. Black (satin? gloss?) paint (spray? brush?) is called for but so is some good advice for how to do it! Thanx

Hi Puttster,

I faced the same issue and didn't know what to do. I have my doubts about paint lasting very long. For both of our RX300's, I went online and got used console housings (about $70-80 each, as I recall), and easily swapped them out. It was definitely worth the money spent.

looking more closely I see it is not just the black paint under the display buttons but also the beige housing beneath that.

Yes, aparrently, that trim piece is black plastic and is painted beige. We had the same poroblem while the car was under warranty and the dealer replace it. We have the same problem with the replacement piece but it's not worth the cost of replacing on an 18 year old car.

Exactly! I couldn't find a source for the beige paint to cover where it had worn away from the black plastic. I got a quote from an interior place in town to paint it, and it was over $100. I couldn't justify the money for an unknown result.
