I just heard from Farm Bureau and they offered $6200 + sales tax = $6650. I asked if we could round it up to $7000, and he said he could do $6500 + sales tax = $7035. Then I asked if I could keep the rental car for 10 days to search for a replacement and he agreed.
I'm happy with the settlement and wasn't expecting such a high first offer to be honest. I paid $10,300 for the Lexus in 2008 when my daughter turned 16 hoping she'd drive it until she graduated college. It's two years past that time, so it was a great purchase.
The only downside is she wants a Jeep, and you know how reliable those are these days:-(
I forgot to mention above that he said that they had estimated that it would cost $5200 to fix.

It had 166,000 miles and I had just put in new knock sensor and spark plugs.
I keep reading horrible reviews of the newer Jeeps. There's a nice black 2011 Grand Cherokee Limited on a local lot, so I read about its features. Nice! Then at the end of the article were page after page of horrible owner reviews.
Think I'm back to shopping Honda & Toyota. There's a nice black Toyota Versa at the local dealer I may look at tomorrow.
Thanks for all the support as always, Jim

I guess, all in all, you faired pretty well. Thanks for the updates and please share what vehicle you add to the stable.

Good luck with the replacement. Too bad you can't convince her to get another RX!

I'm still leaning toward a RX. I've found some nice 2010-12 RX350 AWD models that are reasonable and with less than 100k miles. Looks like they come with a timing chain now so no more 100k expense like before on my 2001 & 2002. I like that!
One thing I haven't found is the old Lexus drivers site where I can enter VIN and look at maintenance history. I'll keep looking.

I login on Toyota Owners and it doesn't recognize any VIN, and logging in to Lexus Drivers I have the same issue.
As an update we got our settlement check yesterday. Shopped for and drove a new Nissan Murano and daughter didn't like it or the Rogue. So, hopefully we're back to Lexus RX350 and even a F Sport which she likes the look of better. She's going to drive a 2014 RX350 F Sport to see if she likes the stiffer suspension. I'm going to search the forum to see what I find on the F Sport. We will probably be buying a Lexus Certified RX as there are plenty of them available within 150 miles. Even black ones which is still her favorite color. Thanks again for being an awesome forum with informed, friendly people to discuss Lexus issues.

When I first started thinking of a RX300 replacement for my daughter I looked at Autotrader & Cars apps for the new NX200t and there weren't many available below ~$40 grand. Now I see some in the mid 20s to low 30s. So, we test drove one today and we loved it. If they continue to keep coming off lease I believe I can swing a Lexus Certified NX200t. It's a lovely SUV and seems as roomy as our RX300.
I'll keep you posted.

Found a CPO NX200t AWD with high miles and a very rare luxury package in FL and made a deal on it. Hope to pickup this Monday or Tuesday. So, I'll be in here with my 2002 RX300 AWD & in the NX200t thread for my daughter's car.
