Default Friend wants to sell me 2001 RX300

I have a friend who's had a 2001 RX300 AWD. He's been the only owner and has done oil changes every few thousand miles or so at Midas. The car only has 72k miles and is in good condition other than the driver's door lock not working with the remote and some cosmetic imperfections around the car, mostly scratches on the bumpers. He's asking $7000. Is this a good deal?

Just found this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-write-up.html

Would this fix the door lock issue?

Please read through the sticky threads and make sure you read through at least 2 panels of recent threads.

check the going rate for RX in your area to see if the price is right.

Sometimes doing business with friends is good and sometimes (specially when things go bad) you also loose a friend.

Assuming the car runs well and is mechanically defect free, then that is a decent price. I would still shoot for a bit lower. Please be aware though that it will need a timing belt soon if it hasn't already been changed based on age.

For comparison, my cousin in NJ also just bought an 01' with 165k miles for $5200; IMO, they overpaid a tad.

Never fall in the trap that everything on the net is true ,,,, (including my response ). If the problem is with the actuator .. then yes it will. If you plan do do it, make sure you leave the door panel off for few days after the repair.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Sorry about the late reply; I only got an email notification for the first post and just checked back today.

Did you end up buying the RX300?
