I am trying to swap motor on awd rx300 and am not a mechanic . I went thru a checklist on Haynes manual on removal I am thinking I am ready to drop engine I am going to use straps on whatever under frame is called and using hoist. There are 4 bolts to remove from bottom to drop engine once lift snugged up.. The trans. I removed four bolts from drive shaft? I think lol. Anyways I got good camera phone and plenty of try to undertake this if possible Id like to get knowledgeable person to talk to while doing this ... Any takers... Very big plz in there somewhere.

Welcome to CL.

I would suggest that you get hold of Lexus service manual. That will give you specific instructions and torques to put things back.

Also use the search as at least one member pulled the engine from below and he had to build an elaborate setup to raise the RX.

Default Engine swap continued

OK got these two books I'm working out of "Toyota Lexus Highlander Rx 300/330/350 1999-2014 Haynes repair manual... Would send pic but I have got to figure out how to post photos on here first got tires off vehicle on blocks raised 3' in the air may have to go higher I don't know. Front bumper off electrical sensors disconnected from engine throttle lines disconnected xcetera went through a checklist in book steering unhooked I know I'm trying to separate drive shaft or whatever so when I drop engine it all comes down I realize I do not know the correct terminology but I have a good camera and plenty of time to get point across. If I can figure out how to send pictures I will start ASAP

Side view i read in book where i have to mark drive shaft thing so when going back together i get it right .. Undid the four bolts missed cpl of brackets so going under to do this

I may have removed wrong bolts so replacing four up front and removing the drive shaft 4-14mm bolt held brackets .. Unsure where it comes apart lol

Only suggestion I would make is at the back change the bottom two 4x4 with a guided 4 pieces of 4x4 [2 side by side as first layer across, 2 side by side length wise, and a single across] this will give you more lateral stability.

Q: do have enough clearance?
