I have a 2000 RX300 Millenium Silver with 55K miles. I have been looking for a newer used RX300 that has Nav and HID lights, and I finally found one today. It is a 2001 Indigo Ink Pearl with both Nav and HID lights and has 35K miles.

They valued mine for about $20K, and the 2001 at $31K. I have a 5 year loan on the 2000 and have 20 payments left. The deal I have come up with the dealer essentially lets me leave with the 2001 with having the equivalent of 34 payments left. (I obviously don't have tier 1 credit)

Does this sound like an ok deal? Thanks for any info/advice.

Prob not
How badly do you want Nav and HID? If a 2000 is 20k, a 2001 shouldnt be that far off. Are they using diff calculators for your 2000 and their 2001? HIDs are about 600 and nav is about 2600. So you are upgrading to about 3500. Accessories depreciate faster than the car. Why not wait for sometime and get the 330..or the hybrid?

Personally I dont see the differences as being worthwhile to pay $11k . Hell- even a 2003 RX could probably be had for 35k instead of 31k for a 2001.

Hello,

Just my $0.02.
I agree with the previous poster.

We got our 2003 FWD drive 4 months ago for $31000 (premium plus package).
I believe the price has dropped some more since the new 330 is
really rolling out (and other competitors like the Infiniti's FX?).
Add the AWD (about $1500) and the Nav/HID/wood package
for $3000 and it should only bring it up to about $35500.
As i have mentioned, i believe the car should have been further
discounted due to the release of 330. May be you are
looking at < $35000 for the 2003 RX300 with all the packages
you want (in case nobody notices, we are sort of in a recession
so it should be a buyer's market). Compared to this, i think $31000 for a 30K miles 2001
car is a bit steep - just my opinion.
(of course, the numbers i have mentioned do not include taxes - which can be substantial).

well, he actually gave me $2000 more than blue book for my car. His price was almost exactly blue book. I think he knew he didn't have to budge much as he knew that there are not that many rx300s with NAV/HIDs that get traded in (at least not here in Milwaukee as I've been checking). Also, I knew that once the RX330s came out, the value of my car would drop all that much faster (faster than a 2001 would anyway).

In any case, I decided to do it. I really wanted NAV and the HIDs. I would've preferred a different color, but I think I do like the blue too. I don't feel jipped so I guess it was okay.

Also, he said he would let me have the 2002 Nav update for free (he originally wanted $400 for the disk with installation!).

Oh, I should also mention, the same person owns both Lexus dealerships here in Milwaukee.

Sounds good!
Enjoy your "bluish" light and the NAV system.
(Your guys are gadget freaks! )
Actually the Indigo will probably look awesome with a proper waxing (like the Zaino's stuff).
