Default Loud Humming Noise: Suggestions?

Hello!

I have a 2001 RX 300. Great car and no mechanical problems @ 130k miles. There is, however, a fairly loud humming noise (sounds like the car body is vibrating) whenever I'm stopped at a light with car still in drive. The humming noise goes away entirely when the call is in park, neutral, or being driven.

Any thoughts as to why this might be? Is it the car body vibrating? can noise be eliminated somehow?

You are asking us to guess.

my guess: Exhaust pipe break, Check around front.

You need an assistant to help you locate/narrow down the source.

My guess is also exhaust-related. I'll guess an exhaust or catalytic-converter heat shield is vibrating.

I had 2 rx300s with the same problem. Lexus knows about it but wouldn't do anything. there are a few posts on here about it.

Going through this as well. Slightly irritating. Stumbled upon other threads with different manufactures and some have added sound deadening material to the trunk and floor boards (inside) and it seems to help. Might try this myself and see what happens
