Driver's door
 

Hi: I am a new owner of a 1999 RX300 (AWD). My question is the interior light does not go on when the driver's door is opened. (It does go on when the door is unlocked by the outside key or when the other doors are opened.) The local Toyota/Lexus shop says the door latch mechanism needs to be replaced at $500 P&L. I do mostly my own work. Any tricks in removing the door panel? And Are the rivets holding the panel reusable or should I buy new ones?

Most probably a repeated question but maybe you can direct me to the threat on removing the engine oil filter without the mess.
