Hello everyone, I am new to the forum (TODAY ) and my first LEXUS RX 300. My question for you is will my 2000 RX 300 airbag off my steering wheel fit a 2002 RX 300 wood steering wheel , i dont want to buy a new airbag ( Expensive), So any thoughts or opinions would be great.

No. The 2000 has a single stage, and the 2002 has a dual/double stage (don't remember the terminology).

And, the shape is different. It will not physically fit into the 2002 wheel.

I had a hunch that they were not interchangeable (but was not sure, so I did not respond). Hyper, are you sure about single stage deployment of air bag in 99 model. I thought Lexus switched to two stage delayed before 98 on all of their models.

I am certain the 99' and 00' only have a single stage deployment airbag, I remember reading this in many threads regarding putting a wooden wheel from 01' + into a 99' or 00'. All of them stated there would be issues with the airbag.

Some threads state you need an 01' + wheel with a single stage airbag. I don't know what means, do you? That may help the OP. I just don't know how an 01' wheel had two different type's of airbags.

Thanks Hyper, I dont know if i want to go that route and spend the extra money on a airbag as well.
