did you buy your rx used?? looks to be an aftermarket part. not too sure what it could be.

It's a Vehicle Information and Communications System (VICS), which receives traffic and parking congestion information and can overlay this information on your Navigation screen or other display. The device in the photograph is probably the part which receives the information from infra-red and FM beacons along the road. You can read about it at

I don't know for sure, but it probably only works in Japan.

the "Thing" is alraeady on my vehicle since brand new.

Did you spend a lot of money? Was that traffic sensor included?
