Can anyone help me? I have an rx300 with the factory cassette deck and all. However I wish to update this with a touchscreen navigation, maybe installed on the dashboard. Also I would like to install a DVD player, USB, a backup camera and a cheap Android tablet maybe in the center console. However I am clueless as to where to start and what my cost would be like

Personally, I would do a nav retrofit with backup camera. Look at gazi1's thread on that, he has an awesome setup! I want to try and do something similar to that one day.

I place my Droid Razr over the blue info box all the time - with the Otterbox cover, actually fits quite nicely.

Never thought of making it permanent though.

 

I do the same occasionally with my iphone 5 when I forgot my windshield mount in the other car.
