Default Replacing AF Sensor with code 1155

Hi all,

I'm new here but have been looking over the forum for info about my code p1155. I got scanned at AutoZone and they said it's AF sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1. I am aware of the location but I have a few questions.

My 02 has 102k and I just had the timing belt package (water pump, tensioners, cam seals, radiator flush, hoses and drive belts). Yes I know that is more than the timing belt package usually is but they recommended it...whether it was necessary or not, I do not know but it's done. However about a week after, the CEL and VSC lights came on and I got the code scanned.

1. Could the repair shop be at fault or does it sound like a strange/unfortunate coincidence? Apparently AF's can become pretty fragile.

2. I bought the new 234-9009 Denso from NAPA. They actually price matched Amazon at 95 and change. Should I just replace it and reset the ECU and call it a day?

3. Can i just reset the ECU like I've read and see if that clears the code? Negative terminal or ECU fuse right?

I ran across a horror story of someone doing the same repair and then soon needing to replace/rebuild the engine.

By the way, my RX was in the shop for 2 days for the timing belt work...might have been a little over the guys heads, not sure. 1200 big ones for all the work.

Thanks for any info.

Welcome to Club Lexus!

1. No the A/F sensor usually have a life expectancy of around 100k miles, so it's just an unfortunate coincidence.

2. Yup, just replace it and reset the ECU.

3. Either or. I suggest negative terminal though. But keep in mind that will erase radio presets, memory seat, etc.

Thanks a lot! I replaced the sensor 10 mins ago. Waiting for the ECU to reset right now. What a breeze that was. Hopefully the code disappears.

Thanks again,
Jake

Hey Broad,
Welcome to the board...people here are a TON of help! I read this site every day, but don't post much. I just did the Bank 1 Sensor 1 on my 2000 RX300 this AM. Must be the day for them....
