Question Follow-up: Poor quality leather

Well, after the leather on my 3 year year old RX300 front seats started cracking along the natural creases and then beginning to split, my dealer agreed to replace the seat covers. Their first offer was to "repair" them along the cracks. After I pointed out that the "repair" woulnd't stop the cracks continuing along these natural creases in the seats and that they would continue to crack and split, they agreed to replace the driver's seatback and the passenger seat bottom and seatback (the driver's seat bottom is creasing like the others, but has not yet developed any full-blown cracks).

Knowing that the driver's seat bottom (which was replaced 2 years ago for the same problem) will go on to develop cracks and splits out of warranty (49,799 miles on the car) and will undoubtedly not match the new leather (age, color, wear, etc), do you think it is unreasonable for me to expect them to replace this also (I don't)?

Thanks

keith

sktn77a,

Sorry, I would say it's unreasonable to expect them to do anything other than what they have agreed to...unless you ask for or demand that they do.

I have found that, generally, you don't get what you don't ask for.

Your post leads me to believe that either you have not discussed, with them, repairing the driver's seat bottom...Or, they have not agreed to repair the driver's seat bottom (see quote above).

Don't settle. Again, you don't get what you don't ask for.

I recall your first post on this. Here's a link to the thread.
