Unhappy Rattle, rattle

I have a rattle in my 99 RX300 cabin in the front window pillar on the driver's side. Funny thing, it only occurs about two out of every three trips.

Last time I took it to the dealer and asked them to fix the rattle they said they heard it and "insulated the dash". They obviously didn't fix it...but, I have to take the car in Monday for (another) service on my locks - is there any coaching I can give the mechanic for locating and fixing this rattle?

Thanks!

Zax, best bet is to take the tech on a drive, esp if you know of road conditions that will trigger it. Then when it occurs, you can tell 'em "THAT'S it!!" and they know, for sure, what noise(s) they're looking for. Otherwise, the tech is just guessing IF they hear something on a test drive. It's a little bit less convenient for you on the front end, but I've found it saves a lot of return trips when the service receipt comment section says "Problem not duplicated; did XXXXX anyway; return if problem returns".

We've had a recurrent problem from the region of the driver's front A-pillar, but based on pushing and poking, I think the tweeter mount is moving around; since SHE is due for service anyway, it'll be addressed again.

Go to the dealer's location this weekend. Drive around and try and duplicate the sound on a road near the dealer. When you take it in Monday, follow the same route.

Probably not the same problem, but I sometimes hear some kind of a buzzing sound coming from somewhere near my left ear - either it's in the roof, door column or the sound bounces up on the window and makes it sound higher up than it is. Only happens with certain deep bass frequencies on the CD. I really need to get a tone generator in and do a propper frequency sweep for where exactly its coming from and what frequency it resonates at.
