A/C temperature knob doesn't react

When i try to adjust the temperature, it doesn't always react when i turn the knob. Will spraying contact cleaner into the knob help?

I have the same problem with the fan speed knob. It is driving me nuts! I usually just leave it on one speed and adjust the temperature accordingly. Let me know if you figure out a way to fix it.
