Hello, I ran across this great forum and was hoping you guys could help me make a decision.
I'm a long time toyota owner and my wife is needing a newer car, we both really like the rx models and I ran across a nice one for sale heres the details
2001 RX300, AWD , White with tan heated leather, gold pkg, loaded 79k miles, all service records and a clean car fax, car is in excellent condtion and is a 2 owner car, I can buy it for $10,500.00 seems like a good deal any thoughts?

Welcome to Club Lexus!

$10.5k sounds a bit high. Does it have nav? Try for 9k. It does have low miles, compared to other RX's though.

That would be a good price here in Iowa. When I look at national ads, I think prices are cheaper farther east than they are around here.

No Nav but just about everything else, i've been looking for a few months, and i especially like the pearl white with the rear wing, most of the dealors around southern IN ask about 12-13 for ones like this, one thing that worries me about buying 2001 is corrosion, do the 1st gen rx's rust?

Wow! I had no idea the selling price is so high for these RX's towards the west.

Rust can happen to any car. The RX is not any more prone to rust than the next car. With that said, I can say that after 11 years in the snow belt, my RX has not one spec of rust.

I paid 16k for mine back in 2007.

Bought a 2002 rx300 coach edition 18 mo ago. Paid 14k. Well worth it as it was show room new, and i new the orig owner personally.
Sound like you found a good one.!
Only trouble is my wife gives me heck for driving it ALL the time instead of our higher gas mileage Honda! I Really appreciate the comfort, quite smooth ride and AWD when the snow flies.
Hope it works out for you. I have saved many $ on maintenance and repairs by checking first on this site with all the experts.

PS Our neighbor and good friend have the identical car you are looking at. We got ours partly due to riding in the very comfy back seat of theirs for 8 years!

9k wont buy it, had a friend at toyoyta run their service history report and it all looks great, although it states that the transmission was replaced by lexus under warranty.
I have the same engine in my 2000 avalon and its been great except for a mas and o2 senser,
has 160k and dosent use oil yet, so I'm pretty familar with the engine in the rx

It's a good thing the transmission has already been replaced, because now you have nothing to worry about... Buy it! LOL
