Default heater core sweating on to carpet?

the heater core for my ac is leaking water onto my floor board and is causing some moisture under the passenger floor mat and carpet... It isn't radiator fluid.. I believe it is condensation over flow.. I checked it out the other day.. It is really a tiny amount of water, but annoying none the less.. If the drain hose isn't clogged, it would be a ton of water in the cab, seeing that I use my AC constantly being in florida..

I don't want to replace the core, that seems like a pain in the ***..

I was thinking of making a catch for it, that drains to a rubber hose, and drilling a small hole in the floor board to stick the hose out..

any other ideas thanks..

The heat exchanger is in a shell with a drain hose. Since your drain is not clogged, my best guess is that the gasket between the two halves has been compromised.

Fix is elaborate. You need to tear apart the dash, recover refrigerant, drain coolant, remove the shell, scrape old sealant, put new sealant and then reverse the procedure.

Can you devise a catch-pan around the shell and drain it out with a tube?

I would not juts drill a hole in the floor board as it will allow dirty-water to come in. That will form molds.

thats what is what i am thinking.. maybe a catch can like rig.. then run a tube to the other drain tube by the firewall, splice it in.. and seal it...

is there more than one drain tube under the dash? like a separate one for the heater core?

thanks
