Default Successful Plug Change

Wife brought it to my attention that her mpgs have dropped severly this past week. I decided to take a look at the plugs and they were shot. The elements were white as can be.

The job was no way near as bad as I thought it was going to be and I would have been done in less than 2 hours but the damned coil boots fell off as I was removing the coil.

What I thought was odd was the fact that the coils looked almost brand new. We have only had the vehicle less than a year. It now has 150k. But why would someone go thru the trouble to change the coils and not the plugs??? Beats me...

After I got the plugs changed I decided to do an extensive cleaning of the ICV,MAF and TB since I was already dirty. All I can say is wow. The vehicle has at least 30% more power and torque across the board.

OBC was reading 26mpgs during the 30 minute test drive. I do realize that the computer was reset and the average will drop. However I was getting that 26mpgs driving thru a very hilly state park at 50mph.

I was scared to death that I would end up with a vaccuum leak of misfire. Something along those terms because that is how my luck is on my car. Now that I have a wild hair up my a**, Im considering a suspension overhaul.

All in all, I can say that I grew a little closer to the Lexus but we have a long way to go lol.

Indy, did you remove the entire TB to reach the rear plugs? I realise they can be a PITA!

That was my idea at the begining but I never got the TB all the way out. When I do it again I will go this route.

1- Remove air box and boot.
2- D/C the throttle cable
3- Remover PCV tube. I didnt have to remove PCV it self.

Thats really all you need to do to reach the rear plugs. I was dreading it but was suprised how I could get to them. It would have made it easier if my hands were smaller.

I just removed the 3 bolts connecting the TB to the intake. That gave me another 1/4 to 3/8 more room.
