I have a 2002 RX 300 with 180,000 miles. The AC went out at the end of last summer. I had the coolant recharged the beginning of this summer (May 11) and it now blowing hot air again. I know I have a leak but I would just like to top it off to get my through the rest of the summer. I cannot find the right adapter to hook onto the top intake????

The refill kits should have the correct connector. But take the car to an auto A/C specialist. They can find the leak - it may be a cheap fix (in which case, get it fixed) or it may not (decision time)!

If you can't find the right adapter that means you're probably looking at the "high side" fitting, which you definitely DON'T want to connect a can of R-134A to. That's why they use 2 different size fittings, so people who aren't knowledgable about A/C don't connect to the "high" side and blow the can up in their face. It is technically NOT LEGAL in the USA to "top off" an A/C system. It has to be repaired and tested before a full charge is added. An A/C shop can lose it's license if caught "topping" without repairing.
