2001 abs keeps coming on
Well, its been a few months now and the brakes seem OK. The car drives normal and there aren't any idiot lights.
Now, what do I do with all these perfectly good parts that I replaced?
I have an ABS ECUand a deceleration sensor that I know are perfectly OK. Ebay I guess.
One little tidbit to offer, because these forums are for all the little details.....
When I took out my ABS wheel sensors, the hole had rusted so much that the hole had become a lot smaller, naturally tightening onto the sensor. Because the sensor is plastic, they break when you try to get them out.
So when I went to put in a new one that I got on Ebay, I think the supplier sent me a left one when I needed a right side one. The difference is the angle of the magnet on the sensor in relation to the tone ring. I'm guessing that the magnet should parallel to the tone ring slots. That seems to me the only way it could make and break a field, thus giving the required pulse. So, I just put the right one on the left side, and rotated it some until I felt the magnet was about in a parallel orientation.
Now in this orientation, the mounting bolt of the sensor isn't were it should be and so I just left it off. I have a sensor, stuck in the hole, but not screwed in. The sensor went in so hard that I'm not really worried about it moving. But alas, at some future time if I have ABS issues, I'll easily check this again to see if maybe my sensor moved out of the hole a little, or moved some, and therefore is not making the field correctly. We'll see what happens.
Just FYI.
