Default Painting the cladding and going monocolor...

I ran a search and I know several of you have done this but haven't really seen much on cost. Any experiences to share?

Imagine this baby all white!

I would think you are looking at $500-$750 or more to do it right.

Lots of the coach eddions came like that. I think it looks great.

My uncle back in Mexico would have done it for about $400 USD. Paint was about $80 to $100 of that price.

Does anyone know which RX's came unicolor out of the factory?

My Venetian Red Pearl 99 is that way and I think it makes it look newer than just about every other 1st gen RX I see out on the roads (most are two tone). I also like how the paint on the car matches the color of the '99-00 taillights perfectly, to the point where I think I prefer them to the Altezzas.

I believe the '01 Silversport & the '02 Coach Editions are the only ones that came out unicolor.

There's the red 99 as well. It was the first monotone I ever saw. I don't know what "Edition" it was but as Wangsta points out, it did exist.

Now I'm curious about it! Is there a designation on it somewhere Wangster??

All of the maroon/red RX300s came mono-color directly from the factory.

Yeah it's just that one color I believe. There's nothing otherwise special about mine, it's a fully loaded 1999 model but I don't think they offered any special packages that year.

I don't think it's that common of a color too, I've only seen one other one and that was in Chicagoland. Up here where I live I'm almost positive I have the only one.

I had the bottom pannels painted tan to match the top and switched the badging to coach edition...it was around 1300 in Tampa Fl. I went to a very good shop though not Maaco/Econo where you can paint a whole car for 300 bucks. I also switched my grill to the coach edition grill. You can see pics under my thread "my rx300" or something like that I would recommend it- makes the car look alot newer. Im thinking about switching the altezzas for the LED lights Ive seen on ebay since that altezza styling dates the car.

Good idea, I bought these just now. I'll have them installed when I paint the cladding. They'll look better on a monocolor.
