Acceleration not strong?
Is it just me, but when I floor it, my car doesn’t spin the tires, but on my 2nd gen, it’s able to spin tires when I floor it. Does anyone know why? Is it because the transmission isn’t able to do it? I’ve only got the tires to spin once, from a full stop, and I was turning the wheel slightly. I’ve tried flooring it 6 times. I apologize in advance for the not so smart question. Car has 178k miles. I just want the best performance out of my car.

Tire spin is lost performance .. you get sound, heat and no motion.
AWD adds weight and mechanical loss, but then spreads the propulsion force to 4 wheels vs 2 and reduces the lost performance stated above. AWD always wins out in the stand still to speed numbers.
my 2c ... RX is not designed to be a high performance vehicle, but I do understand the quest of getting the most out of it. Just keep in mind the closer you stay to the design point, you should expect the most milage.

What year is your second gen? The 07-09 MY's have the 3.5 with 270HP, huge difference from the first gen's 220 horse, which could explain why you have an easier time in doing so.

The RX300 AWD center differential is designed to minimize slip in the front or rear. When slippage is detected it will transfer the power to the other pair of wheels.
If you got the limited slip differential too that will minimize slip in the rear by transferring between the left and right wheels.
The tire type and condition will also be a factor.
