Default 1999 rx300 Major problem poss lemon

Heres the story purchased a used 1999 Lexus RX300 with 160,000 miles. Everything checked out we bought it maybe 10-20 miles later the check engine light comes on the dealship was closed at this point and we were on our way back to New Mexico(bought in Phoenix AZ). We pull the codes today it comes up P0330 the knock sensor. I know there is a 15 day lemon law period does anyone have any experience with this? I dont want to fix it temporarily with changing the gas cap or running fuel injector cleaner through it. Any suggestions? Anyone with similar problem? What are my options? Thanks alot

It all depends upon the sales contract and applicable (state laws). If you purchased it as "as is" then you practically bought it with all hidden problems. You may have a case if you can prove it that the seller knew about the problems and intentionally gave false information.

So read your sales contract, lawyer-up, talk to the seller to take the deal back or have the vehicle repaired etc.

You can read up the DIY, on how to replace the knock sensors.

ps: pretty soon you will be locked out of over-drive. To get around that, you have to reset the CEL by OBDII reader or removing battery terminal for 15 min or so.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't think it was purchased as is? It was just a regular sale nothing like that. I don't think the guy knew about it but who knows with sales men. I read up on the DIY seems a little tough but doable after seeing the detailed one with the Sienna. So they will for sure need to be changed pretty soon no matter if it goes away with the fuel injector cleaner fix? Cause it goes into overdrive just fine everything shifts smooth.

In my view it is very unlikely that any one will give any sort of warranty on 160,000 miles vehicle.

I would bet they knew of the CEL and codes, just re set it before you took delivery. Not a deal breaker IMO, just get it fixed and drive, drive, drive.
