Strange Odor After AC on????
You're perfectly right, I'm a TRUE loser. Now can we get on with addressing the technical matters at hand?
Harrier:
I don't mean to come across as sympathetic to any Lexus dealer or more especially their service department, but the fact of the matter is a lot of good minds are at work right now trying to figure out how to solve the problem of sudden, spontaneous, windshield fogging and of mold and mildew "growth" odor emanating form automotive A/C ducts.
As I said, back in the 92, 93 timeframe Lexus spent a LOT of money changing out A/C evaporators just to have the owners come back with the very same complaint months, if not just weeks, later.
It's my personal opinion that the solution we should eventually see is an "active" "exhauster", an exhauster that includes a blower to expel stale and humid airflow "trapped" within the cabin. While this might be the most obvious answer it likely will not be the one chosen due to the fact that it will increase the A/C compressor "workload" and therefore decrease the MPG ratings.
At the heart of both problems, windshield fogging and the growth of bacterial spores, odor, is the issue of an undue level of moisture remaining on the complex and dense surfaces of the A/C evaporator, mostly as a result of the conversion to the new less efficient refrrigerant. If the problem persists and you have a closed garage then open all the windows at night to let the A/C plenum, and the cabin overall, dry out as much as possible each night.

Windshield fogging?
No one is talking about that here.
It is not a matter "at hand", but it requires
two sudden, spontaneous mentions from you.
mon·o·ma·ni·a

Pathological obsession with one idea or subject.
Again, you lost that one in 1993 and yes, wwest,
you remain outside the bounds of reality and an
obstinate ***.

Cheese it, the cops!
Dear kindly Sergeant Krupke,
You gotta understand,
It's just our bringin' up-ke
That gets us out of hand.
Our mothers all are junkies,
Our fathers all are drunks.
Golly Moses, natcherly we're punks!

Hi guys,
I just came back from the dealer and they did change an air filter for the airconditioner. Also, they sprayed some smelly thing in the vents. Smells better, so hopefully the odor is gone. Also, they washed my car for me and it's all under warranty... =)
Thanks guys....
