Kia RX300

wwest, toyota wasn't that great of a car company when it was first introduced in the states. Now it is #3 in the U.S. and #1 in the world. Sure people were saying the same about toyota, they were right and Kia is the same today. If Kia get better then I'll say something good about them. I just cringe everytime I see a sportage.

Some people see the wine glass as half empty...
Some people see the wine class as half full...
I see the wine class filled with perfect vintage wine (Lexus products) but need an attentive waiter that tops it off each time I take a sip..
No product is perfect and if my customers never gave me any feedback about dislikes how would I go about improving it?

Beautiful. When all else fails, kill'em with gibberish.
Again...It's a KIA...A freaking KIA. Pay attention...again, it's a KIA.
I have to chime in with my 2 cents...
i agree that no product is perfect and it's the customer's responsibility to let the manufacturer know this (by whether or not the car sells).
however, in this case, Lexus/Toyota must be laughing to death... didn't Kia try to knock of the GS with their GS, GX, IGS300 or something like that?
Korean car manufacturing does not equal Japanese manufacturing. Do you honestly believe Kia will ovetake Toyota/Lexus??
You get what you pay for, particularly in the lower-priced car segment. hope new Kia owners don't really expect to be buying an suv like the proven RX for half the price.

I saw one today and took a double take, so I had to go check it out. It is awful close to the rx300 and even the dealer said that it was designed after the rx 300. If you look at the specs it is also real close. The one I saw was 31k, with all the options. So the price is almost catching up to the rx300. We will see if Kia does what toyota and honda did in the early 80's. Maybe they will spin off to create a lexus type kia such as toyota did? (this will create some noise in the auto industry)
So should my wife buy one over a 1999 rx 300?

kutscher,
Please read this thread completely. I cannot pull any punches here.

KIA: Korean for POS. SUX: Korean for SUV . Paying attention?

Thank God, I thought I was the only one that thought that thing looked like a Kia.
$31k are you sure? I had heard sub $20K.
As for Kia/Hyundai coming out with a luxury nameplate, it WILL happen. I know for a fact that Hyundai (not sure about Kia but they are the same company) sells luxury vehicles in Korea just like Toyota does in Japan, and all they'd have to do is bring them over under a luxury moniker.
I'd be afraid if I were Lexus. Mercedes and BMW's big mistake was that they weren't afraid in 1989. They're still letting their asses heal.

Wow thats pretty unbelievable. They pretty much took the RX and make a mold of it and made a copy and renamed it. They should stop copying other companies like that. Copying a few things its normal but the whole outside shell is just a little too much.
