I purchased an OEM PCV part number Lexus 12204-20040 and when I tried to replace the plastic PCV with the 90 degree angle with the new metal PCV I realized I could not install without removing the rubber bushing. Is this the correct way to install? I am hesitant to remove the bushing and try to screw in the new one.
Be careful removing that bushing, its rubber and might be brittle to crumble in the cover. I am losing oil so I might install the newer valve cover with the screw on 90 degree pcv they both arnt the same. I know oil gets through my pcv. All I can think is there is a reason they changed the design.

PCV is just one component. Drain tubes, valve cover design, tilt of the bank1, drain tube blockages due to sludge etc all play a part. None of the early models showed any oil loss through the intake till they passed 60K miles. [At least I have not come across such post]. Even with the newer Gen2 valve cover folks reported oil consumption through the air intake. But do what you feel gives you an improvement and share results.
