Default Need to replace exhaust manifolds

Any recommendations on aftermarket manifolds that improve performance. Or should I stick with the OEMs.

There are some groups out there, JP Performance comes to mind, but they're going to be expensive, and I remember someone who managed to get them they were $1000 for the headers alone (instead of the 1500 kit with the pipe and cat, http://jpheadersexhaust.com/cgi-bin/...s%20%20Headers

I also saw these OBX ones one ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-E...Q5fAccessories

And one would really need just the manifolds as opposed to the rest of the piping, since it is a 1MZFE engine.

Where I usually see tons more discussion on this is here, http://www.solaraguy.com/viewforum.p...327c60bcd8bb1a

and I saw recent discussion on the OBX ones, http://www.solaraguy.com/viewtopic.php?t=43145

Megan Racing had some ones they tested a while back and I remember some Solara owners trying them out, but nothing further became of them.

This is likely a future project for me when I have more funds and I'll probably get them used off some Solara owner.

Personally, if you're not going to do much else on the vehicle, I wouldn't go with anything but OEMs. A direct flow muffler would be the first exhaust modification I'd do.

The headers should fit. I don't know of any real difference in that area across the 1MZFE blocks, but the post-header piping appears to have problems (see area below) with the RX300 configuration. I think there was some consensus on this a few years ago when we were taking a look at it, but I have a hard time picturing that piece in this area.

Hey I too had the manifold search going on about 1.5 years ago and was pleasantly surprised that Lexus was actually cheaper than aftermarket and were also able to save the o2 sensor in the manifold which both aftermarket and Toyota said I would most likely have to replace.

Was very pleasantly surprised (in that instance) to the Lexus honesty and price... Before swaying to the aftermarket you might want to do some research...

Just a friendly tip!

Thanks for the info. I have been doing some research and haven't found any data yet to see if the aftermarket ones actually are better. I have to replace them soon. The front manifold has a little crack close to the O2 sensor.
