My FWD 99 Rx has just started to chug a couple of times each time it shifts. The car has 97K miles on it. I got the car used when it had 84K and I immediately changed the transmission filter and all the fluid. I also rechecked the fluid level and that is fine.

Am I in for big trouble or could there be something short of total failure happening? Anything I can try before I take it to a garage? I just ordered another filter and 7 qts of Amsoil. I will change the filter and add the Amsoil to see if it helps. Am I wasting my money trying that?

 

Right about the difference in mileage you have is when you should change it. I don't consider it a waste.

 

Okay, thanks. I've got my fingers crossed that this will help but I'm not holding out too much hope.

 

You may also want to clean/inspect the tranmission`s speed sensors.very easy to do,they are at the top of the transmission.
