Rear Defrost Not Working
The rear defrost on my wifes 2003 RX is not working AT ALL. The light comes on but the fog/frost never dissappears. I checked the rear grid and it's more gone than there. So with ~40% of the grid remaining what do you guys recommend? Can I just mask some lines and use the repair kit from an auto parts store? I'll have to check, but I'm 99% sure she just has the stock greenish/goldish tint and nothing else on the rear glass. Thanks.

Just like heater coil, the lines must form a closed circuit to produce heat.
If you have a tint film then, the heating lines are sandwiched between the glass and the tint.
As you mentioned there are kits that allow you to fix a break or two in the lines. Read the product label to see if the kit just makes a connection or forms a heating element. As an extreme example, if the whole line is missing and you some how manage to make the line with the kit, does it short out [low resistance] or really form a heating line.
With 40% gone, I would replace the glass.
Do you know how the 40% got removed?
